Mould is visually detectable by the smell and signs of water damage on walls or ceilings. It can and often does grow in places that are normally invisible to the human eye. It can be found behind wallpaper or paneling, under ceiling tiles, on the back of what may seem like a drywall, even underneath carpets or carpet underlay. Unseen, cracked piping in your walls may also be a source of mould, since the leak will be causing moisture where it can’t bee seen. Just another reason to consider getting a Mould inspection done.
Temperature, humidity and moisture readings are taken from the affected surfaces. If we are unable to find a visual cause of the mould or should the occupant think that they have mould but we are unable to detect it from a visual mould inspection then further more detailed inspections can be discussed. In some cases this may mean cutting inspection holes to check inside cavity and floor spaces. We would also conduct Air Quality Testing.
